Forming a star-like habit with layers of pointed leaves, it’s no wonder that Cryptanthus ‘Rubin Star’ has adopted common names including Starfish Plant and Earth Star.  Adapted to tropical, humid climates, it’s perfectly happy in a warm, bright position in the home and especially so in rooms with higher humidity level, such as kitchens and bathrooms. They also make a reptile and amphibian safe addition to vivariums and terrariums. Height: 15cm. Spread: 20cm .

How to Grow

Water frequently to maintain evenly moist compost. Reduce watering during the winter months, but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly  when they are in active growth. Use a heavily diluted solution of a balanced fertiliser. These Bromeliads will benefit from regular misting to increase humidity.
